Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What if the other party won't participate?
We start by working with you individually. Often, once the other party understands the process is safe and confidential, they become willing to engage. We can also send a neutral invitation on your behalf.
How long does the mediation process take?
Every family is different. Some find resolution in 2–3 sessions, while others benefit from ongoing support over several months. We work at your pace — there's no pressure to rush.
Is mediation legally binding?
Mediation itself is voluntary and non-binding. However, if both parties reach an agreement, it can be formalized into a legally binding document if desired. The goal is healing, not litigation.
What does it cost?
The initial consultation is always free. After that, fees are discussed transparently based on your situation. We believe cost should never be a barrier to family healing.
Do you work with cases involving domestic violence?
Yes, with appropriate safety measures. Sessions can be conducted separately (shuttle mediation), and we always prioritize the safety of all parties, especially children. My 30+ years in domestic relations courts inform this work.
